1) Question: Why can’t I just tweeze out those long unruly brow hairs?
Christi: If you tweeze unruly or gray brow hair, you will end up with bald areas and create thin sparse brows, you may have no brow hair at all someday. The Precision Brow Planing Shears will trim unruly hair the length of the other brow hair. The end of the shears was designed to easily snip one hair at a time to maintain even lines.
2) Question: Why is waxing bad?
Christi: A natural looking arch and precision brow shape is very difficult, if not impossible, to create with waxing because often the wrong hair or too much hair is removed in waxing. Also, the pulling of the skin involved in the waxing process is very damaging, destroying elastic...creating wrinkles and sags. I’ve also seen women who have been burned from waxing.
3) Question: Why is tweezing bad?
Christi: Every time you pull hair out at the root, you damage the hair follicle.
Eventually the brow hair will not grow back, creating thin or sparse brows. It’s very difficult to create a straight line when tweezing, so you may end up taking too much off, creating a gap. Brow Planing takes the guesswork out of brow shaping and makes it easy, fast and painless.
4) Will I cut myself with the Precision Brow Planer?
Christi: The Precision Brow Planer has been specifically designed for the brow area and to safely remove brow hair without nicks or abrasion. Please refer to the detailed instructions in The Plane Truth about Brows booklet and online video for how to correctly hold and use the planer to avoid nicks. Be sure to hold skin around the brow taut, when using the Planer. If you have very dry skin, apply lotion first and massage into brow area. If you have a pimple or bump around the brow area, carefully work around it.
5) Question: Will I take off more brow than I want?
Christi: No. The Precision Brow Planer gives you the control to remove the intended hairs and leave the others untouched. The specifically designed length of the Planer allows precision planing above the brow and along the outside of the tail, leaving clean lines. Refer to The Plane Truth about Brows booklet and online video for more details on exactly how to use this innovative tool.
6) Question: Can I use the Planer on other areas of my face, like the upper lip? Won’t my hair grow back thicker or darker if I use the planer tool?
Christi: No, that is a myth. Only your hormones change the color and texture of your brow or facial hair. Whenever you extract hair from the root, it will grow back out with a finer end, feeling softer. When you plane the hair it will feel courser because it is growing out with a blunt thicker end. With the Planer you will be able to remove hair as it begins to show at the skin’s surface, long before you would be able to remove it with tweezers. I use the planer all over my face!
7) Question: I have hardly any brows left. What help can your technique provide?
Christi: Many women have sparse brows. By learning how to Design your brow and create a brow map, you will be able to visually see your perfect shape and be able to allow the hair within the brow map to grow back because you are not continually removing them, making your brows thinner and thinner. If your hair truly will not grow back then continue to Design your brow map but use the Adda Brow to fill in those sparse areas. Refer to The Plane Truth about Brows booklet or the online video for instructions on filling in sparse and totally bald areas.
8) Question: Can I do this myself or do I need a professional’s help?
Christi: Please don't be at the mercy of someone else to do your brows as good brow technicians are hard to find. I designed this goof proof system so you can easily Design, Define and Diffuse your brows by yourself. I have 11 year old clients whose moms let them Plane their own brows. Moms know my system will keep their daughters from losing their brows as they get older.
9) Question: Should I dye my eyebrows to cover the gray?
Christi: Because the brow hair is more fragile than other hair, I don’t advise dyeing it because any hair will weaken and possibly break off due to dyeing. Also, dyeing does not give shape to the brow. You may still need to fill in the bald or sparse areas and then your brow will be too dark.
10) Question: Why does it take so many steps to achieve a good brow? Why can’t I just use an eyebrow pencil?
Christi: You can’t achieve a natural looking brow with a pencil. Pencils create hard, waxy, unnatural lines that can’t be blended or diffused. I have worked with thousands of women and have seen every type of problem brow you could imagine. Once you learn the Design, Define, Diffuse steps it is so quick and easy.
12) Question: How do I create an arch?
Christi: Creating your brow map is the most important step in achieving the perfect arch as it will show you where your natural arch should be for your personal face shape. Once you have your brow map in place, you can quickly and easily plane a straight line above the brow to emphasize your arch. When you tweeze, wax or thread above the brow it is difficult to achieve a straight line. You run the risk of taking off too much hair and creating a gap. If you try to straighten the line, you may make the brow too thin.
13) Question: How often do I have to Brow Plane?
Christi: Everyone’s hair growth is different. After shaping for the first time, as soon as you see the hair begin to show, place the tip of the Planer at the base of the new hair growth and sweep it away! The clean up is a breeze and takes very little time. Plus, you can remove all those light peach fuzz hairs or gray hairs that are hard to see.
14) Question: How long does the Brow Planer last?
Christi: Depending on how coarse your hair is, one Brow Planer should last 2-3 months...even when you use it on other areas of the face.
15) Question: How do I determine the color to use in the Color Blend Trio?
Christi: Match you current brow hair color with one of the colors or a combination of colors in the Color Blend Trio. Be careful to not go too light or too dark. Play with the color and the brush and see what combination looks the best. It is so easy.
Please review our How To instructions on Color Matching...
16) Question: How are your brow brushes different from other brushes?
Christi: If you are like most women you probably have a drawer full of brushes. My brushes are totally unique and were designed specifically to work with my Design, Define, Diffuse technique of brow mapping to achieve your perfect brow shape. Tip #1 of the Designer/Definer brush is the minimum width brows should be and it creates a soft and natural precision line while tip #2 is the perfect fullness and stiffness to evenly apply the Adda Brow and Color Blend Trio. Tip #3 of the Diffuser / Refiner Brush is the perfect width to diffuse the brow hair and highlight above the brow while the #4 tip is just a flip away from eliminating any excess powder from the brow.
17) Question: Can Adda Brow be used on all brows, no matter the color?
Christi: Yes, it is a universal color for brows, even black or blonde hair because it is a fibrous translucent cream that builds brow fullness, especially in sparse areas and not intended to be the final brow color. The Color Blend Trio actually gives the final actual color affect to the brow.
18) Question: Why is Diffusing Powder Duo two colors?
Christi: Not only do the two different colors work together to tone down the brow color for a more natural, softer appearance, but also highlight above the brow to show a different highlight level. I also use it as a color wash and eyelid color to really open the eye area.
19) Question: How will I know how to give my brows the right shape?
Christi: My Precision Brow Planing System is the simple way to achieve the perfect brow shape for your face. Other methods like stencils don’t allow for the fact that everyone’s face shape is different and individual brows all have different arch levels or peaks. Waxing and tweezing don’t give you the control you need to achieve the right shape. It is so important to design your brow map before removing hair. Many women will tweeze first, and before they know it, they have a straight brow with no arch. With Precision Brow Planing you create your personal brow map before removing any hair and know what hair to leave, remove or let grow back.
20) Question: How is the Lift-N-Lite different from other brow highlighters?
Christi: This non-reflective cream bounces light off of the brow bone and smoothes out the skin texture so it appears ageless and rested. It really makes a huge difference and gives the eye the appearance of a lift.
21) Question: Why do I need to use the Seal-N-Shine?
Christi: It holds brow color and hair in place all day and contains protein to strengthen brow hair and turn any hint of a powdery brow look to naturally healthy hair sheen. The brush is designed to give you the coverage you need without taking off the brow color like mascara type applicators will.
22) Question: I have brow scissors now but never seem to get the cut I want. So many times I get the hairs too short. What’s different about your Precision Brow Planing Shears?
Christi: I designed the shears with an angle to fit the arch of the brow. This angle also moves the shears out of your line of sight so your hand isn’t in the way and you can see what you’re trimming. The length of the shears is important in removing hair from one side of the brow to the other. The tip is very fine and can pick up one hair at a time.
23) What is the Contour brush?
Christi: Part of your initial Brow Planing Kit, the Contour brush is your bonus gift from me. Just like your other brow brushes, the Contour Brush was designed to be the perfect width and density to complete your eye look. The Color Blend Trio in your brow kit when used with the Contour Brush is all you need to contour and highlight your crease and lid area.
24) What does it mean to stipple, or what is stippling?
Stippling is the technique we use to apply adda brow or color blend trio to your brows. To ‘stipple’ is to use your brush in dart like motions to apply adda brow or color to your brow. It is also often described as to use dots or short strokes to apply.
